Affiliated to PWYP in 2015, PWYP Senegal focuses on contract transparency, environmental protection and revenue transfers to local communities. The coalition is involved in the EITI process and was instrumental in working with the government for revision of the country’s mining code. Formed of 18 NGOs, it has regional representatives across the country and works directly with communities affected by extraction, as well as collaborating with their local governments. It plans to carry out research to obtain a broader understanding of the natural resources sector in Senegal and form the basis of future advocacy.
